Protection Awareness
To promote safety, dignity, and human rights, Humanity & Additional Special Needs Alliance Organization (HASNAO) conducted a Protection Awareness activity targeting vulnerable communities in and around Kismayo.
Raising Awareness on Protection Risks
Many communities affected by displacement and crisis face increased protection risks, including gender-based violence, child abuse, neglect, and exploitation. HASNAO’s protection awareness sessions aimed to equip community members with knowledge to recognize risks, prevent harm, and access available support services.
The sessions focused on:
- Protection of women, girls, and children
- Prevention of Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
- Child protection and safeguarding principles
- Rights, dignity, and referral pathways
Community Engagement and Participation
The activity was delivered through interactive discussions involving community leaders, women, youth, and caregivers. By using culturally appropriate approaches, HASNAO ensured messages were clearly understood and widely accepted.
Participants were encouraged to report protection concerns safely and to support survivors with respect and confidentiality.
Impact at Community Level
The awareness sessions helped strengthen community understanding of protection issues and promoted positive attitudes toward prevention and early response. Community members reported improved confidence in identifying risks and supporting vulnerable individuals.
Commitment to Protection
Protection remains a core pillar of HASNAO’s humanitarian work. Through continuous awareness, case management, and community-based protection initiatives, HASNAO strives to create safer environments where everyone can live free from fear, violence, and discrimination.
Together, we can protect dignity, rights, and lives.
